In order to grow embryos in the lab, conditions must be absolutely perfect. Each patient has their own incubator which allows minimal interruption. Plus, we've invested in high tech incubators to reduce the amount of time embryos are exposed to disruptions in temperature and pH levels. The most difficult part of the IVF process is growing embryos in the IVF laboratory. Creating an optimal environment for embryos is extremely important for ensuring embryo viability and maintaining the highest pregnancy rates. Numerous factors, such as air quality, temperature, humidity, levels of essential gases and light, are known to affect eggs and embryos. IVF air quality is often overlooked when setting up an IVF laboratory. New Direction Fertility Centers went to great lengths to ensure the highest possible air quality. In addition, each patient has their own incubator (the most important piece of equipment) leading to the highest quality in embryo culturing and highest IVF success rates. In order to grow embryos in the laboratory, conditions must be absolutely perfect! ▸ Do you accept my insurance? Upon coming in for your initial consult, our staff will verify what benefits your insurance provides. Each patient will have an assigned financial counselor to help assist you with any financial concerns or questions. ▸ How do I get started? To get started with an IVF cycle, you MUST message us on CYCLE DAY 1, even if it is the weekend. You will always begin birth control on day 3. ▸ What are the Phases of IVF cycle? Suppression Phase: This is when you are on birth control to suppress your follicles from growing. We do this to keep the follicles around the same size so they grow at the same rate during stimulation phase. Stimulation Phase : This is the phase where you use injection medication to grow your follicles. This is the stimulation cycle-during this time you can expect to be in our office frequently for monitoring appointments (these appointments are set days according to your IVF calendar). Retrieval : This is a surgical procedure to retrieve all the eggs (in the follicles) that have grown. For this procedure, you are under general anesthesia. You will breathe completely on your own the entire time. The procedure is very quick (20 minutes at the most). It feels like a super quick nap. During the time you are in procedure, your spouse will leave a sample (if applicable). ▸ What do I expect AFTER RETRIEVAL? You can expect cramping (2-5 days), bloating (up to 2 weeks) and some discomfort (2-5 days) following your procedure. Heat packs and Tylenol are best to use to help alleviate any pain. The rest of the day following your retrieval, you will want to rest and take it easy. You are free to return to normal activities the following day, including work. Remember to increase salt intake and drink beverages with electrolytes (instead of plain water) for the following 3-5 days. This is to prevent excessive swelling. We can expect you to have a period about 10-14 days following retrieval. When this happens, you are ready to move forward with a transfer or another retrieval. You will message us on CYCLE DAY 1. ▸ What do I expect for TRANSFER? Our FET Coordinators will walk you through the transfer process when you are ready to move forward with one. You can expect to be on estrogen and progesterone medication (possibly birth control again). This is use to thicken the lining of your uterus to prepare for implantation.
